The Albanese Government has declared a childcare subsidy period of emergency in relation to the attack on Only About Children in Maroubra. This means:
The centre will still receive childcare subsidies so staff will continue to be paid.
Parents will not have to pay any gap fees.
Parents will not have to pay for care until the centre re-opens or another spot locally is found.
The Department of Education will work with parents to find spots for children locally until the centre reopens.
If insurance does not cover the cost of rebuilding the centre, the Federal and New South Wales Governments will cover the costs.
