This is my latest update to provide you with information about the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our community.
The NSW Government has updated its health advice for NSW public schools to take effect from Wednesday 19 August 2020.
Schools in the Catholic and independent sectors are now also expected to implement these new recommendations.
These changes mean anyone with COVID-19 symptoms will be prohibited from returning to school until a negative test result has been reported.
Others changes also being introduced at schools include:
- School formals, dances, graduation or other social events are not permitted
- Spectators, including parents and carers, are not permitted within school grounds or at sporting events held during school hours
- Schools must not travel outside their local community or zone
- Interschool sport and zone carnivals restricted to 100 people per venue and must be held in the local area
- Group singing as well as the use of wind instruments in group settings are not permitted
- Students must remain within their relevant class or year group to limit mixing at school.
Existing health advice for all schools remains in place and includes maintaining good hand hygiene, physical distancing for adults and banning non-essential school visitors.
We still need to do everything we can to ensure no further spread of COVID-19 in our community. Please maintain 1.5 metres between others and if you are sick or feeling unwell, stay at home and consult your GP.
