This is my latest update to provide you with information about the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our community.
NSW Health is now strongly recommending everyone in our state wear a face mask in crowded public areas and while on public transport.
The advice is that masks should be worn in supermarkets, shops, churches and other places of worship as well as on public transport.
The recommendations are not yet compulsory, but are “strongly recommended” for situations in an enclosed space where social distancing can’t be guaranteed.
Workers in customer-facing roles such as retail or hospitality are also encouraged to wear a face mask.
The use of fabric masks is acceptable and should be made of three layers of fabric and washed after each use or at least daily.
We still need to do everything we can to ensure no further spread of COVID-19 in our community. Please maintain 1.5 metres between others and if you are sick or feeling unwell, stay at home and consult your GP.
