Coronavirus (COVID-19) update No.8

Wednesday 15 April, 2020

This is my latest update to provide you with information about the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our community.

All beaches in the Randwick City Council area are now open for exercise purposes with social distancing measures and group gathering restrictions still in place.

The Council’s decision means that from today exercise activities including swimming, surfing, sand jogging and walking are allowed at these beaches.

Sitting on the sand, sun-bathing or gathering in groups at the beach is not permitted.

We still all need to help contain the spread COVID-19. Maintain 1.5 metres between others and move on from the beach once you’ve completed your exercise. If you are sick or feeling unwell, stay at home and consult your GP.

Please note that the ocean pools at Clovelly, Coogee, Maroubra and Malabar remain closed until further notice as do the beachside car parks. For more information, see the details from Randwick City Council at:

randwick.nsw.gov.au/about-council/news/news-items/2020/april/beaches-available-for-exercise-social-distancing-and-gathering-restrictions-in-place

The key to keeping the beaches open for exercise will be the behaviour of locals, so please follow the social distancing guidelines at all times.

My staff and I are also here to help you. Please call my office on 9349 6007, email matt.thistlethwaite.mp@aph.gov.au or reach me via FacebookInstagram or Twitter.
