Coronavirus (COVID-19) update No.12

Sunday 24 May, 2020

This is my latest update to provide you with information about the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our community.

The coming weeks will see the easing of more social restrictions by the NSW Government as part of a staged approach.

All public school students from Kindergarten to Year 12 in NSW will be back in the classroom full-time from next Monday 25 May 2020.

Schools will be expected to maintain the health measures and precautions already in place including increased cleaning, access to hygiene supplies and compliance with hygiene practices.

As part of the easing of restrictions, students can use the school library, continue with apprenticeships, attend after-school care and play in the schoolyard. However, school excursions, camps, work experience, inter-school sport and debating will not be permitted.

Decisions regarding the return of non-government schools are a matter for individual schools and you should consult your school principal for any updates.

Another upcoming change will allow NSW residents to holiday anywhere in the state with travel restrictions to be lifted from Monday 1 June 2020.

Travellers will still need to maintain social distancing and practice good hygiene during their holiday in NSW. If you’re planning a trip, please call your planned accommodation venues and attractions to confirm your booking before travelling.

Cultural institutions including museums, art galleries and libraries will also be allowed to open from 1 June.

We still need to help contain any further spread of COVID-19. Please maintain 1.5 metres between others and if you are sick or feeling unwell, stay at home and consult your GP.

My staff and I are here to help you. Please call my office on 9349 6007, email matt.thistlethwaite.mp@aph.gov.au or reach me via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

If you know anybody who would like to receive these updates please ask them to email me with their details and they will be included in the mailing list.
