Stop the Eastern Suburbs incinerator

Stop the Eastern Suburbs incinerator

Opal Packaging and SUEZ are planning to build a massive incinerator in the Eastern Suburbs.

The proposal for the incinerator at the site near the corner of Bunnerong Road and Botany Road in Matraville will involve the construction of a facility that will burn about 165,000 tonnes of non-organic, non-recyclable waste including wood, textiles and plastics.

The plant and 60 metre high (18 storey) vent stack will be built just 130 metres from homes in our community and operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The plan will also result in an estimated additional 54 truck and 100 car movements each day.

I’m strongly opposed to this proposal and will fight it on behalf of our community, but I need your help.

Please complete the petition so we can demonstrate to the companies our communities’ strong opposition to their proposal.
