The Albanese Government is announcing a $21 million investment in vital infrastructure and security measures for the re-development of the Hakoah Club at its new home in Paddington, ensuring a hub of Jewish life and culture for generations into the future.

The Hakoah club in Sydney’s eastern suburbs has a proud history of serving the local community.

The re-developed Hakoah Club is set to deliver a contemporary sports, fitness, wellness and community centre for the local community encouraging increased participation in communal life.

The site will feature a football field, enclosed multi-purpose courts, pools and a state-of-the-art gymnasium which will be available for schools, community organisations and charities.

Alongside the sports facilities, the Hakoah Club will function as a world-class community centre with hospitality spaces, restaurants and cafes, and it will house communal organisations with multiple office spaces.

Founded in 1938 by Jewish refugees from Europe, the Hakoah Club has been a much-loved feature of the local community. Previously located in Bondi, the old club site was the home of local sports clubs and a cherished venue for community celebrations and holidays.

For decades, the Australian Jewish Community have contributed to our multicultural social fabric, and the Hakoah Club stands as a permanent invitation for all Australians to come together in times of celebration, joy and community.

The Hakoah Club re-development is also supported by the NSW Government.
