This is an update to provide you with the latest information about the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our community.
The new social restrictions announced last night will take effect from midnight tonight. This means that:
- There is a limit of only two people gathering in public spaces (with households / families exempted)
- Older citizens over age 70 are urged to stay at home
- Children are banned from playgrounds and all outdoor skate parks are closed.
A reminder also that all beaches and ocean pools in the Randwick City Council area are now closed.
This includes Coogee Beach, Maroubra Beach, Clovelly Beach, Gordon’s Bay, Little Bay Beach, Malabar Beach and the beaches at La Perouse.
Please do not leave home unless shopping for essentials or attending a medical appointment. Work and study at home if possible.
The Government has also announced a six month moratorium on commercial and residential evictions.
No one in our community should lose their home, whether they rent it or own it, because of COVID-19. You can’t stay at home if you’ve been evicted.
I will continue to provide you with updated information as it becomes available.
If you know anybody who would like to receive these updates please ask them to email matt.thistlethwaite.mp@aph.gov.au with their details and they will be included in the mailing list.
The Government’s www.australia.gov.au/ website also has the latest Coronavirus news, updates and advice from Federal agencies.
